There’s nothing worse than packing up your family and your dog for a fun-filled day at one of New Jersey’s many beaches, only to arrive and realize that the beach is NOT dog friendly!  We did some research and here are 13 dog friendly New Jersey Beaches. Asbury Park 8th Avenue Dog Beach

  • Beautiful sandy beach in Asbury Park
  • During the off-season, you can bring your dog anywhere on the beach (except the boardwalk).
  • During Peak season, (May 2nd – September 29th) dogs are only allowed on the beach during early morning hours.

Barnegat Light Beach

  • Dogs allowed on the beaches from October 1 – April 15.
  • Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
  • Daily admission fee.

Beach Haven Doggy Bay

Taylor Avenue, Beach Haven, NJ 08008

  • Dogs allowed on the beach from September 16th – May 14th.
  • Dogs must be on a leash at all times
  • Enter at Taylor Avenue.

Belmar

Belmar, NJ 07715

  • Dogs are allowed on-leash from October 1 through April 30th.

Bradley Beach

Bradley Beach, NJ 07720

  • Dogs are allowed on the beach from September 16 – April 30th.
  • Dogs are allowed off leash

Brigantine North End Beach

  • Dogs are allowed year round on this beautiful beach.
  • Dogs must remain on leash at all times.
  • Only permitted in the Natural Areas from September – May.

Fisherman’s Cove Conservation Area

  • Dogs are welcome at the eastern part of the beach to walk year round
  • Dogs must be on-leash at all times.

Gateway National Recreation Area – Sandy Hook

128 S Hartshorn Drive, Highlands, NJ 07732 

  • Located at Sandy Hook.
  • On-leash from September 16-March 15 on Sandy Hook.
  • On-leash dogs are allowed on Plum Island and Horses Cove Beaches year-round.

Harvey Cedars

Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area

New England Road, Cape May, NJ 08204

  • Dogs are allowed on-leash from September to April.
  • The park is opened from dawn to dusk.

Island Beach State Park

  • Dogs are permitted on this beach but must be kept on a six foot leash.
  • Swimming with your dog is year round south of swimming beach.
  • Dogs are NOT allowed on the swimming beach from Memorial Day to the first weekend of October.
  • There are admission fees for vehicles.

Long Beach Island Beaches

Long Beach Island, NJ 08008

  • Dogs are permitted on leash from October 1 – April 30th.
  • Beaches include: Beach Haven Crest, Beach Haven Gardens, Beach Haven Inlet, Beach Haven Park, Beach Haven Terrace, Brant Beach, Brighton Beach, Haven Beach, High Bar Harbour, Holgate, Loveladies, North Beach, North Beach Haven, Peahala Park, South Beach Haven, Sparay Beach and the Dunes.

Longport Dog Beach

Route 152 and Ocean Drive Bridge, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08244

  • This beach is an OFF leash beach ALL year!
  • There is no fee to enter.

Mantoloking Beaches

Mantoloking, NJ 08738

  • Dogs are welcomed from September 15th through June 15th.

North Wildwood Dog Park & Beach

2401-2499 Boardwalk, North Wildwood, NJ 08260

  • To access the beach, walk under the boardwalk at Maple Avenue.
  • 25-foot hydrant sculpture makes for fun photos
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • Dog park nearby allows dogs to be off-leash.

Ocean City Beach

Ocean City, NJ 08226

  • Dogs are permitted on the beach or boardwalk between October 1st and April 30th.
  • Dogs are not permitted during the summer season form May through September.
  • Dogs must be on leash at all times.

 

 

Stone Harbor Beach

  • Dogs are allowed on the beach during peak season from 7pm to sunset daily.
  • Dogs are allowed on the beach all day in the off season.

Sea Isle City

Sea Isle City, NJ 08243

  • Dogs can be on a 6 foot leash from October 31st through April 30th.

Sunset Beach

502 Sunset Blvd. Cape May, NJ 08212

  • Dogs (leashed) are permitted on this beach from September 15th – April 15th.
  • There’s even a restaurant, Sunset Beach Grill, with out door seating, which welcomes you and your dog on their patio.

Ventnor City Beaches

Ventor City, NJ 08401

  • Dogs are allowed on leash from October 1 through May 14th in the area washed by the high tideline.
