Where did she get Duke from?

Maggie adopted Duke about 3 years ago from the Newark ASPCA.  They found him living on the streets in Newark.   When Maggie saw Duke at the shelter, she know it was love at first sight.  She just fell in love with his adorable face!

What does she loves most about Duke?

For Maggie, the most rewarding thing about being a pet owner is the unconditional love.  She is so grateful to have him during quarantine with him this year. She especially loves that he doesn’t talk back and always listens to her.

How long has Duke been with Trusty Tails?

Maggie and Duke have been clients of client of Trusty Tails for over a year.  Duke is a regular visitor to our office and loves to stop by for some delicious treats!  Duke absolutely loves his walks and all the friends he has met at Trusty Tails. He has a whole entire social life without me!

What is the hardest thing about being a pet owner?

Maggie says the hardest thing about being a pet owner is leaving Duke alone when she goes out for the day.  She also hates that they have relatively short lives compared to ours.   Maggie says it’s totally worth it.

Favorite Game

His favorite game is to attack the down comforter. He is not great at fetch – he kind of just watches Maggie throw things and then question why she did it.

Favorite Activity

Maggie and Duke’s favorite activity together are long walks circling around Hoboken in the mornings.  Their favorite place to go together are two of Maggie’s friends’ houses. One has an amazing backyard he just loops for hours, and the other has live chickens. Pure entertainment and thoughts of dinner for Duke.

Bad Habits

Duke’s bad habit is chewing things. Not as bad anymore, but he completely destroyed Maggie’s couch, desk and lots of shoes in that first year of having him.

Best Thing He Does

The best thing about Duke is that he is just super sweet and a mush. And when he is not, he gives a great side eye.

His Naughty Side

The naughtiest thing Duke has ever done was when he destroyed the couch and then sitting on the remnants and pretending nothing happened.

Funniest Thing He Does

The funniest or best memory of Duke would probably be the first time he met one of his girlfriends, Whiskey, and tried to be amorous, but failed miserably. Or maybe when he first discovered the live chickens. He lost his mind!

Nicknames

Duke has many nicknames: Bubba, Mike Dukakis, Dukus, Fuzzy. Likely more.

Special Tricks

Duke doesn’t have any special tricks, but for a treat Maggie could probably get him to do anything.
