Rescue Your New Best Friend At A Jersey City Animal Shelter

Jersey City is blessed with some very good animal shelters.  Every day, hard-working people at our shelters are reuniting lost pets with their grateful owners.  They are also placing many sad pet rescues into new, loving homes.  Our hats go off to our bona fide Jersey City animal rescue shelters.  After all, the folks at our awesome pet shelters are giving new hope and new lives to many lost and forgotten pets.

Here in Jersey City, indeed in all of Hudson County and our neighboring counties, there are many shelters where you can find the perfect pet―your new best friend.  Yes, we are in a vast metro complex of cities, townships, and counties.  But, we are a large community of giving and compassionate people.  We care about others, we care about you, and we care about animals.

It is with that care that we hope that you’ll find your new best friend at a Jersey City animal shelter.  We’ve put together the following list of local Jersey City area animal shelters for your convenience.   Please enjoy and we wish you much success in finding your perfect new best bud.

Jersey City Area Animal Shelters

Companion Animal Trust, Inc.

This is a 501c3 non-profit corporation that is aimed at helping homeless cats in the Northern NJ and NYC areas.  They emphasize the adoption of stray cats into loving homes.  CAT, Inc. puts on cat adoptions every Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Fuzzy Friends in JC (148 Newark Ave.).  Please contact them via the link above for more cat adoption details.

Final Hope Animal Rescue

Final Hope is a non-profit pet rescue with a firm mission focus.  That mission is to give a temporary home to homeless animals and to put them into new, loving homes.  That includes providing those animals with the nourishment, care, and medical attention they need.  Out of concern for the feral cats that are born and die each year, they support and participate in a very successful trap-neuter-release (TNR) program in our area.

JerseyCats

Founded in 2010, Jersey Cats is also a 501c3 non-profit.  Their 3-fold mission to help homeless cats and kittens is:

  • To find new homes for cats via fostering and adoption.
  • To reduce stray cat populations by humane TNR methods.
  • To increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of cats through community outreach programs.

Jersey Cats rescues cats and kittens from bad situations in Jersey City as well as in neighboring Hoboken, Union City, and Weehawken.  Please contact them at the link above or call 201-305-3436 for more information.

Liberty Humane Society

With a very strong “adopt local” program, the Liberty Humane Society has a profound mission.  That mission is to make local pet rescue and placement their first and foremost priority.  They are a local business with resources committed to helping the local community with pet care and adoption services.  But, Liberty’s services don’t just start and stop with pet rescue and rehoming.  They also provide low-cost medical care, homeless animal sheltering and care, educational services, effective animal control, and much more.

Pad Paws Rescue

Begun in 2006 in the Powerhouse Arts District (hence the name, PAD PAWS) this business is focused on pet rescue and rehab.  With many combined years of prior ASPCA, disaster rescues, and related animal experiences, the staff at PAD PAWS Animal Rescue are mostly focused these days on abandoned pets, TNR, and animal rescue/care.

See Spot Rescued

These folks focus on rescuing lost dogs from “high-kill” shelters. High-Kill shelters are places where stray and injured dogs are routinely euthanized and they put very little emphasis on rehab or rehoming dogs. Our hats are off to the valiant rescue and rehab efforts at See Spot Rescued and similar operations around the country.

In Conclusion

As we’ve indicated, Jersey City has some very good animal rescue shelters.  These are staffed by very compassionate, animal loving folks.  We highly recommend your support of them and to rescue your new best friend at one of these fine JC animal shelters.
