How to Vote for Tail of the Year

We’re so excited your pet has entered into the Tail of the Year pet competition. Below, please find the next stages of the competition including instructions on how to vote.

NOTE: To prevent fraudulent voting, there are a couple steps you need to go through to verify yourself as a genuine voter.

VOTING DATES & INFORMATION

Public Voting – September 27th – October 17th, 2021
-Vote counts will not be made available to the public or to participants at any stage of the competition.

Judging Process – October 18th – November 7th, 2021
-The 3 pets in each of the 12 cities of Hudson County with the most votes will go through to the next round. Our team of Independent Judges will then select one finalist for each city.
-During the judging process, the 36 finalists will be notified and asked to re-enter their pet’s photo wearing their Tail of the Year sash ready for the final Public Vote.

Final Public Voting – November 8th – November 23rd, 2021
-Vote counts will not be made available to the public or to participants at any stage of the competition.

The Tail of the Year Winner will be announced on November 24th, 2021.

HOW WILL PETS BE JUDGED IF THEY MAKE IT TO THE JUDGING PROCESS?

Pet entries will be judged on the following:
-Number of public votes (33% of score)
-Quality, cuteness, and uniqueness of photos submitted (33% of score)
-Written Entry (33% of score)
-Final scores will not be made public and in the event that the winner does not want to participate in the final stages then the runner up will be put through to the final.

HOW TO VOTE IN THE TAIL OF THE YEAR

STEP 1

Go to https://trustytails.playfulpawsusa.com/vote-tail/ and you will see all the pet entries.

Type your pet’s name into the search.

NOTE: Entries rotate so pets are not always in the same order.

Enter your email to verify you are a genuine voter and then click VOTE. Email verification is needed only once.

Confirm you are not a robote by ticking the box that appears on the screen.

NOTE: You may need to scroll up or down depending on desktop, mobile, tablet or laptop.

It may ask you to do a double captcha to make sure you’re a human. Just complete the simple quiz.
NOTE: these are all important steps to prevent fraudulent voting.

Check your email and verify your account.
You must do this to make sure your votes count.
Note: You only need to confirm your email ONCE.

If you want to share your entry on social media or with friends then click the 3 small dots in the middle of the entry.

STEP 7

A new window will open and you will see on the right that you can copy the link to share it or just click the social share buttons.
