However, it is crucial to know what is safe and what is not before you even open the medicine cabinet. Below is a chart of safe over the counter medications for your dog or cat to take for some common illnesses and injuries. Remember though that not all dogs and cats are the same, so the number one rule to remember is: Always check with your veterinarian before giving your pet any unprescribed medications!

Mineral Oil Up to 4 tbs. Daily Up to 2 tbs. Daily Used to relieve constipation
