UNJUMBOLD is a 2021 Tail of the Year Sponsor who will be give a beautiful gift basket to the winner and runner up in our pet competition this year.
How did you start your business? What was the inspriation behind Unjumbold?
UNJUMBOLD was always a dream, but came to fruition while on a Jeep Camping trip through Salem, New Hampshire & Maine. In our first year after meeting in NYC, we, Michael and John fell in love, renovated and sold an apartment in Harlem, renovated and opened a wildly successful Instant-Hotel in the Catskills & then headed for the suburbs.
A year later we renovated our New Jersey home, which we just sold, and through all of it always tried to support small local shops, especially while traveling. COVID-19 devastated small businesses all across the USA, including John’s own Bar/Restaurant, which gave us the idea – and time – to focus on the ‘dream’. Thus was born UNJUMBOLD!
What type of pet products do you provide?
We sell Wild One bowls & leash bags, small batch treats by Wild Mommas Baked treats and adorable bandannas by Woof & Wild.
How do you strive to make a difference in the community?
At UNJUMBOLD, we focus on Women, LGBTQ & Black-owned companies; highlighting our Local vendors and Fair-Trade partners. We try to partner with as many local artisans as possible, constantly bringing in new products to showcase the amazing talents around Hoboken & Jersey City. You can find us at the Main St Pops Artisan Market every month. We go to the market, not just to gain brand awareness, but also to be plugged into what’s going on with vendors and artists alike who are the lifeblood of our community.
Tell us about you pets.
We have 2 dogs, both named Humphrey. Big Humphrey is John’s cocker spaniel and Little Humphrey is Michael’s shorkie. We both had dogs named Humphrey when we met – we didn’t purposely subject our pets to the embarrassment of same names!
