What is the Tail of the Year Competition?
The Tail of the Year is a pet competition seeking the cutest and most interesting dog and cat in Hoboken, NJ.
Pet owners can submit pictures of their pets online to win the Hoboken’s Tail of the Year Award.
Why would you enter your pet in the Tail of the Year?
The Tail of the Year is a way for people to have fun and celebrate their love for their dog or cat. Who wouldn’t want to show off their pet’s unique talents and cuteness? The Tail of the Year award comes with great prizes and prestige!
What is the Tail of the Year Prizes?
On March 5th, we will announce Hoboken’s Dog Tail of the Year & Hoboken’s Cat Tail of the Year! Each winner can choose 3 of the following prizes:
- Trusty Tails $200 pet-sitting voucher
- Trusty Tails Pet Gift Basket ($100 value)
- Amazon Gift Card ($75 Value) from Poop Angels
- A blueberry aromatherapy bath spa treatment. It will include ear cleaning, enzymatic toothpaste, blueberry shampoo, conditioner and cologne, brush out, nail trim, paw balm, and accessory (neck trim/hair bows) at Foofie Poochies. (Dog Only)
- A Gift Certificate to Cornerstone Pet
- A gift basket from Hoboken Pet

What type of pets can enter the Tail of the Year?
We welcome dogs or cats only to enter and participate in the Tail of the Year competition.
Can I enter if I live outside Hoboken?
To participate, you and your pet must reside within Hoboken. We do not accept entries outside of Hoboken, NJ.
When and Where does the Tail of the Year take place?
The Tail of the Year is an online competition between January 15, 2023, and March 5, 2023.
What is the voting and judging process?
Voting – The Tail of the Year contest will be managed using a 3rd party app. The app will count and verifies all votes. Vote counts will not be displayed during any part of the contest, nor will they be released at any point during or after the contest. The promoter will not be held responsible for entries or votes not received.
Winner – 2 winners 1 dog and 1 cat with the most votes
What are the dates of the competition?
Open for Registration – Ongoing registration beginning January 15, 2023. Participants living in Hoboken must submit a current photo of their pet that was taken in the last six months.
Public Voting – January 15, 2023 – February. 24, 2023.
The Tail of the Year Dog and Cat Winner will be announced on March 5, 2023
Where can I vote for the Tail of the Year?
You can vote at tailoftheyearaward.com from February 5, 2023 – February. 24, 2023.
When will the winner be announced?
The Tail of the Year Winner will be announced on March 5, 2023.
Can you tell me how many votes my pet received?
We will not display the vote counts during any part of the competition.
What are the rules of the Tail of the Year participants?
Below are the rules that apply to all participants in the competition. Failure to comply with these rules will result in the immediate removal of the participant from the competition.
- Code Of Conduct – Participants found to be harassing other participants, promoters, organizers, or sponsors in any manner will be removed from the competition (and future competitions) with immediate effect. The promoter’s decision will be final.
- Participants shall not use paid advertising to promote their entry.
- Participants shall not buy votes in any form.
- Participants suspected of cheating will be removed from the competition.
- The Tail of the Year logo and the Trusty Tails logo can only be used with written permission from Trusty Tails.
- Only official sponsors may claim sponsorship. For example, this includes, but is not limited to, adding their name to posters, T-shirts, flyers, and awards.
