Interview with Trusty Tails Manager Zara
Zara has been a pet sitter for Trusty Tails for since February 2017. She was a student at Stevens Institute of Technology and in her last semester, prior to graduating, she thought a part-time job walking dogs sounded fun. She enjoyed working with animals so much that she ended up staying on and transitioning to full-time. She applied, got the job, and the rest is history.
What is Zara’s Role at Trusty Tails?
Zara is an incredibly important member of our Trusty Tails Team. She wears many hats at Trusty Tails:
- Dog Walker / Pet Sitter – Zara carries on of the largest dog walking schedules on the team. She needs new shoes quarterly for all the mileage this gal puts to the pavement. She’s passionate about dogs and you will most definitely see her walking around the mid-town area of Hoboken. She’s been known to do 30,000 steps in a day!
- Neighborhood Manager – As Neighborhood Manager, Zara manages a team of walkers in the midtown area of Hoboken. She is always available to answer staff questions and help them out with animals, ensuring everyone is where they are supposed to be and we are provided the animals with the best care possible.
- Key Manager – Zara keeps our entire company organized at the office with the keys to all our clients homes. An incredibly important job, she painstakingly logs, files, tags, and monitors who has keys within Trusty Tails.
What is her favorite part of being at Trusty Tails?
Her favorite part of the job is that moment when an animal starts to trust her, whether it’s a shy kitty or a skittish pup. From that moment on she knows they are going to be friends and have fun hanging out. That could mean a long walk, going to the dog park, or playtime and snuggles inside!
What’s the hardest part her role as a pet sitter at Trusty Tails?
The hardest part of the job has to be when the pets aren’t feeling well, due to anything from an upset stomach to old age. Often there’s not much she can do besides provide love, bathroom breaks, and an occasional treat and hope that they get better soon. Thankfully most of the time they’re back to normal quickly and ready to get back to their favorite activities.
What does she do when she’s not working at Trusty Tails?
Outside of her job, she enjoys reading, hiking and playing on the Nintendo switch. She also takes care of her pet, a wonderful fluffy rabbit named Stormy who’s more than a bit spoiled.
