Meet Our Tails Family: Honor
Meet Anthony and Honor! Anthony and his wife have been Hoboken residents since 2012 and they both work for Hoboken Grace Church. Anthony oversees Care and his wife is the Service Programming Director. Honor was adopted from North Shore Animal League rescue at 8-weeks old and they just recently celebrated her “gotcha day” on October 14th!
How Honor got her name
Anthony and his wife adopted Honor on a Sunday in which they had just spent a full day at work/church. The message that day was to honor God and that everything you do should remind you of this. They thought that was a cool reminder and even a cooler name so they decided to name her Honor.
The most rewarding thing about being a pet owner
Knowing that this dog loves you and shows you affection even when you feel you don’t deserve it.
The hardest thing about being a pet owner
This year has been a very difficult year for Anthony and his wife as pawrents. In January, Honor was diagnosed with cancer and they were told that she had only 6-8 months left. Well…it’s been almost 10 months and they are happy to report that Honor is doing great! She is currently undergoing treatment, although it breaks their heart when they have to take her to the vet to get an ultrasound or IV. But, they know it’s for her own good, even though Honor doesn’t think so.
So for Anthony and his wife, the hardest part of being a pet owner is knowing you only have so long with Honor, and it teaches you to cherish and embrace each day you get with her.

If You Were on America’s Got Talent, What Would Your Story Be?
Despite having cancer, my pawrents are giving me the best life possible, and as a result, I am enriching their lives even more.
What Is Your Favorite Place To Hang Out When You Get Out?
Jockey Hollow Park in Morristown where I can hike and run off leash
Where Do You Love To Sleep After A Hard Day’s Work?
In my pawrent’s bed!
What Are You Favorite Pet Treats?
I love the Himalayan Yak chews and Antlers. I am also a sucker for anything my human baby sister drops on the floor.
What Human Food Do You Save Your Begging Skills For?
Any! I love ALL people food.
What’s The Funniest Thing You Ever Did (Maybe It Didn’t Make Your Owner Laugh!)?
I like to sleep with my pawrents and sometimes I get the worst gas ever. There have definitely been nights where I have woken them up from a dead sleep with the bad smell.
What’s The Cutest Thing You Ever Did (Apart From Everything!)?
When my human baby sister came home, I brought a ball over to her bassinet where she was sleeping. I was so ready for her her to play with me.
Be Honest…What’s The Naughtiest Thing You Ever Did (We Won’t Tell Your Human!)?
There is a reason I don’t have my own bed and it is because I destroy them all!
If You Could Be Any Superhero Which Would You Be?
I think my name is a very superhero name. But if I have to choose one, probably Captain Marvel since she was so military.
What Do You Think Your Human Loves Most About You (Apart From Everything!)?
That I know when you’re upset and is the first to come and curl up next to you to try and calm you down. My pawrents always thought that I would have been a great therapy dog.
What Does Your Human Do That Annoys You (Promise Not To Tell Them!)?
When they tell me to go lay down and stop stalking my baby sister at dinner time. She tends to drop food and I am always ready and waiting to catch it. Of course, sometimes that results in me trying to get stuff directly off my sister’s hand or off the table.
What Do You Love Most About Your Pet Sitter (We Will Definitely Tell Them!)?
Zara is amazing and I always look forward to see her. It is because she is most likely taking me to the park. My pawrents are very thankful for how she loves me.
